Training the Best was written by Dorothy Poole and captures the story of Charles Herbert Flowers Jr., a flight instructor who spent his time a Tuskegee, Alabama as a full time flight instructor who transformed cadets into pilots.  During Mr. Flowers' tenure, 996 pilots were trained at Tuskegee.  He trained roughly ten percent - or about 100 - of those pilots.
